The light bar is connected to the daytime running lights (DRLs) and surrounds the new Volkswagen logo, which uses light as the new chrome to highlight the modern front end design.The front-wheel-drive vehicle is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged, DOHC, 16-valve, four-cylinder engine that is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and delivers 248 horsepower and 32 miles per gallon on the highway.The Arteon's spacious interior can comfortably accommodate five adults, and the trunk, which can be accessed through a hatch, has enough space to accommodate four full-size golf bags.The Arteon comes standard with heated 12-way power front seats as well as leatherette seating surfaces. The center console has been redesigned to accommodate Volkswagen's latest MIB3 infotainment system as well as a brand-new touch-sensitive climate control system. A new generation of multifunction steering wheels is also equipped with digital touch surfaces.A touchscreen navigation system with voice recognition, a premium Harman Kardan audio system with eight speakers, Bluetooth, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, an anti-theft alarm system, USB ports, and an electronic parking brake are some of the highlights of the vehicle's technology and convenience features.The advanced Volkswagen Digital Cockpit system, which is standard on all Arteon models, provides drivers with a fully digital instrument cluster. During this time, the engine is turned off.When the brake pedal is depressed (as when stopped at a red light), the vehicle will idle if the necessary conditions are met. When the brake pedal is released, the engine is brought back to life.VW likes to think of the Arteon as a "grand tourismo" vehicle. I wouldn't go that far, but it was a fun ride to Bellingham and the Aslan Brewery. Although there was some road noise, the car performed well and was comfortable both coming and going on the two-hour journey.
